Founded in 2009, Pipe Coaters Nigeria Ltd (PCN) acquired the assets of Socotherm, a coating company active in Nigeria for decades, and giving continuity and new impulse to its activity became one of the largest pipe coating companies in Nigeria and all Africa. PCN is also the only company with the capability to offer a complete range of coating services, including Anticorrosion, CWC, Thermal Insulation, Internal Coating, bends and accessories coating for Onshore, Shallow Water and Deepwater projects.

In 2011, Tenaris acquired 40% stake in PCN thus combining Tenaris’s industrial know-how and technical capabilities in pipe manufacturing with PCN’s proven expertise in coating solutions.
The objective of this partnership is to offer to the Nigerian and African energy industry, a full range of quality line pipe solutions with high local content, supplying complete onshore and offshore line pipes and coating packages manufactured in Nigeria.

In PCN safety is our number one priority. Healthy and safe practices at our facilities benefit our employees and the surrounding community. We work on prevention to achieve the goal of zero accidents in all our operations. We also perform assessment as well as constant inspections and events investigation.

We are committed to sustainable business by minimizing the environmental impact of our operations. We also work to efficiently use the energy and natural resources.
Based on the principles of sustainable development, our management system follows the guidelines of international standards such as ISO 14001:2015 and ISO45001:2018.

PCN is committed to the growth and development of the community in which it operates. Our community enduring programs include employment of community personnel, development of community vendors, training and Educational support, Merit Awards, and infrastructure development.

The Roberto Rocca Education Program reflects PCN’s long-standing commitment, focusing on supporting students in disciplines that include materials science as well as mechanical, chemical and electrical engineering. Under this program, we issue and average of 76 scholarships annually to the communities from both the Secondary and Tertiary Institutions.

Human Capacity and Workforce Development

At peak, over 300 people work in PCN, including direct and contracted employees and about 99% of the staff are Nigerian nationals, many of whom have come to occupy key positions at various levels.
In PCN we enhance development and career opportunities for local professionals. We support training opportunities for Nigerian employees, with 10% of their paid manhours dedicated to training in cutting edge technologies while integrating them at a global level.
Furthermore, our employees (Operators, Professionals, Specialists and Managers) are sent to Tenaris University, to follow job specific development plans that disseminate knowledge and expertise uniformly across the company.
